A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

A man in a suit and tie standing up against a white wall.

My name is Charles Payne, a television host on the Fox Business network. My wife Yvonne and I come from similar backgrounds, having lived in poverty and faced many struggles. But with hard work and dedication, we made better lives for ourselves. Now, we enjoy helping others, just as others helped us during our hard times.

I always remember the time my godson came over for a visit and was dressed nicely in all black. We asked where he’d come from — we gathered a club or a funeral — but he told us it was an interview. When I asked him why he didn’t wear a white shirt and tie, he answered that he hadn’t known, and he was not in a position to buy them right now. That stuck in my head. I couldn’t stop wondering how many other kids in the neighborhood might be in the same position as my godson.

I later spoke with my wife, and explained we had to do something to help out these young men. So we decided to provide white shirts and ties to 50 young men in the Bronx who just graduated from high school. With the help of my wife, and my sister-in law, we bought 50 shirts and ties at Portebello's Clothing Store in the Bronx. They visited several schools in the Bronx, and spoke to principals and guidance counselors, who then connected us with students who gave them their resume, and received their shirts and ties.

We want to spread the word: No matter what type of job you are interviewing for, it is proper to wear a white shirt and tie. That shows that you mean business, that you are serious and showing respect. The first impression matters.

Always dress for success!

Yours,
